Amazon Prime does not include One Medical for free. Prime members can purchase a discounted One Medical membership for $99 per year or $9 per month (prices checked August 16, 2026). The membership includes 24/7 on-demand virtual-care access and digital care tools, but scheduled video and in-person appointments are separate medical services that may be billed to you or your insurance.
What Amazon actually added
Amazon announced the Prime health benefit on November 8, 2023. It is a discounted subscription to One Medical, not free health care, insurance or a prepaid allowance for unlimited office visits. You must separately enroll and pay for the One Medical membership after signing in with the Amazon account that has Prime.

The annual Prime price is $100 less than the standard $199 annual membership. That comparison is only a membership discount; it is not a comparison with insurance premiums or the cost of a doctor visit. Family-member eligibility and account rules should be confirmed during enrollment.
What the membership includes
- 24/7 on-demand virtual care: You can request care at any time through the One Medical app or website, subject to clinical and state availability.
- Direct-message and video care: Providers may handle common concerns such as colds and flu, urinary-tract infections, pink eye, allergies, birth control, erectile dysfunction, menopause and some skin conditions.
- Care-team support: Members can message the care team, review care plans and access health records.
- Prescription-renewal requests: A clinician decides whether a renewal or new prescription is appropriate. Membership never guarantees medication, and you can generally have an approved prescription sent to the pharmacy of your choice.
“24/7” means a request can be submitted around the clock. It does not promise an immediate response, a particular clinician, a prescription or virtual treatment for every condition. A provider can require a scheduled appointment, examination, testing or another level of care.
What still costs extra
The membership pays for access to the platform, care team and included on-demand virtual services. It does not prepay scheduled medical appointments.
- Scheduled in-person visits are billed separately.
- Scheduled video visits are also separate billable services.
- Depending on your health plan, copays, deductibles and coinsurance may apply.
- Labs, imaging, outside specialists and facility services can create additional charges.
One Medical accepts many major insurance plans for eligible scheduled in-person and scheduled video visits, but participation varies by office and plan. The membership fee itself is generally not an insurance-covered benefit. Insurance is not accepted for On-Demand Care direct-message or video visits; those are self-pay, although Amazon says eligible purchases can be paid with an FSA or HSA card.
In-person care depends on where you live
Virtual membership care is available nationwide in the United States, while in-person care requires a convenient One Medical office. Use the service-area and office-location page before joining if local appointments are important to you.
Amazon advertises same-day and next-day appointments in many locations, but that is not a guarantee for every office, date, appointment type or time slot. If there is no nearby office, the membership’s practical value is mainly its virtual care, records and care-team tools.

Amazon says On-Demand Care covers more than 30 common conditions, but eligible conditions and direct-message availability vary by state. Its current FAQ says adult profiles are for ages 18–64; parent- or guardian-managed child profiles are available for ages 2–11. Amazon also says On-Demand Care is not currently available to beneficiaries of government payor programs including Medicare and Medicaid. Those rules should not be generalized to every One Medical membership or scheduled visit.

Who is likely to get value?
The membership is more compelling if you expect recurring virtual-care use, want prescription-renewal and care-plan support, live near a One Medical office, or plan to add several eligible family members. At $99 annually, it can cost less than paying for two or more comparable self-pay virtual visits, depending on the care you need.
On-Demand Care may be better if you need one treatment for a common condition, already have a primary-care doctor, do not live near an office, or want a transparent one-time charge. A local in-network doctor or urgent-care clinic may be cheaper when insurance covers the visit or when you need examination, testing, chronic-disease continuity or specialist care.
How to enroll
- Open the official Amazon One Medical membership page.
- Sign in to the Amazon account associated with your Prime subscription.
- Choose the Prime-discounted membership and monthly or annual billing.
- Add up to five eligible family members if needed.
- Use the confirmation email to create or connect your One Medical account, then open the One Medical app.
- Before booking a billable visit, check the local office, accepted insurance and your plan’s cost-sharing rules.
If enrollment or care does not work as expected
If the Prime price does not appear, verify that you used the correct Amazon account, check the confirmation email and spam folder, and use Amazon’s membership-management prompts to connect the Prime price to an existing One Medical account. Contact Amazon One Medical customer care if the accounts remain unlinked.
If no office appears, you can still use nationwide virtual membership care, but scheduled in-person care requires a participating location. If direct-message care is unavailable, state rules or clinical requirements may require video care or an in-person appointment.
For On-Demand Care video visits, Amazon says you receive text notifications when the request is confirmed, under review and ready for the provider. You have five minutes to join after the provider starts; a missed call is automatically canceled without a charge.
Important limitations
- One Medical membership is not health insurance.
- Prime billing and One Medical billing are separate recurring charges.
- Prices, conditions and availability can change.
- Virtual care cannot replace examination, testing, emergency treatment or specialist care.
- One Medical is a U.S. service, not an international travel-health benefit.
Do not use One Medical for an emergency. Chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, stroke symptoms, serious injury, uncontrolled bleeding, severe allergic reaction or other life-threatening symptoms require emergency services.
Bottom line
For a Prime member who will use recurring virtual primary-care support—or who lives near a One Medical office and can use insurance for separately billed visits—$99 a year may be reasonable. Someone seeking one isolated consultation, lacking a nearby office or expecting free in-person care should compare On-Demand Care, a local in-network clinician and other telehealth options instead. Check Amazon’s official pages before purchase because pricing and availability can change.
