The best nonprofit CRM depends on your organization’s size, fundraising model, and staff capacity. Bloomerang is the strongest fit for donor retention, Neon CRM is the best broad all-in-one option, Little Green Light is the most budget-friendly, Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud offers the deepest customization, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT suits complex advancement teams, and DonorPerfect is a strong established fundraising CRM.
These products are not directly interchangeable. A $45-per-month donor database, a revenue-based nonprofit suite, and a per-user enterprise platform solve different operational problems. Compare the pricing model, implementation burden, fundraising depth, add-on modules, and data-export terms—not only the advertised starting price.
Quick comparison
| CRM | Best for | Starting pricing signal | Pricing model | Main drawback |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bloomerang | Donor retention and relationship-focused fundraising | From $125/month for CRM, billed annually | Constituent-based and modular | Fundraising and volunteer capabilities can increase the cost |
| Neon CRM | Growing nonprofits needing an all-in-one platform | From $99/month | Revenue-based, with paid modules | Total cost rises with revenue and optional functionality |
| Little Green Light | Small nonprofits on a tight budget | From $45/month for up to 2,500 constituents | Record-based | Less suited to complex automation and program operations |
| Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud | Customization and enterprise scalability | $60/user/month Enterprise; $100/user/month Unlimited | Per user, billed annually | Implementation and administration can be substantial |
| Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT | Complex advancement operations | Public current price not verified | Custom or quote-based | Less transparent and generally excessive for small organizations |
| DonorPerfect | Established fundraising teams and recurring giving | Custom pricing | Quote-based | Direct cost comparison is difficult |

What a nonprofit CRM should do
A nonprofit CRM is more than a donation form. It should create a usable record of donors, prospects, gifts, pledges, recurring payments, campaigns, communications, events, memberships, volunteers, grants, tasks, and stewardship activity.

Some systems are primarily donor-management databases. Others combine fundraising with events, membership, volunteer management, email, text messaging, and automation. Enterprise platforms add custom data models, program management, advanced integrations, and analytics, but usually require more implementation and ongoing administration.
How these CRMs were evaluated
The comparison considers:
- Gift, pledge, recurring-giving, campaign, appeal, and major-gift functionality
- Constituent relationships, households, duplicate management, imports, exports, and custom fields
- Email, SMS, segmentation, automated journeys, and acknowledgments
- Events, memberships, volunteer records, scheduling, and self-service tools
- Reporting, donor-retention analysis, dashboards, and campaign performance
- Ease of adoption, support, training, and implementation requirements
- Total cost, including users, records, revenue, modules, processing, and migration
- Data portability and the practical difficulty of leaving the platform
1. Bloomerang: best for donor retention and relationship-focused fundraising
Bloomerang is a strong choice for a small or midsize nonprofit whose central need is understanding and improving donor relationships without taking on Salesforce-level administration.
Pricing and features
Bloomerang CRM starts at $125 per month when billed annually. Its fundraising product starts at $40 per month but must be purchased as part of a bundle with Bloomerang CRM. The Giving Platform bundle starts at $242 per month and includes fundraising, CRM, volunteer management, support, and intelligence features. Bloomerang Volunteer is listed from $119 per month, also with annual-billing language.
The platform covers donor profiles, relationship history, segmentation, reporting, automated supporter journeys, major-gift and grant tracking, membership management, duplicate matching, and data-stewardship tools. Product packaging matters: the least expensive CRM price is not the price of a complete fundraising-and-volunteer deployment.
Strengths and limitations
- Strengths: donor-focused records, engagement indicators, dynamic segmentation, unlimited users, reporting, and donor-retention-oriented workflows.
- Limitations: additional fundraising or volunteer capabilities can raise the bill; organizations needing highly customized data models or complex program management may need workarounds or another platform.
Independent comparison coverage generally positions Bloomerang as relatively straightforward for smaller nonprofits while raising questions about customization, membership depth, and the additional cost of volunteer functionality. Those are review-based observations, not independently measured product defects.
Choose Bloomerang if: donor engagement, stewardship, segmentation, and retention reporting matter more than extensive custom development.
Consider another option if: your organization needs a highly customized enterprise data model or wants the lowest possible cost for basic donor tracking.

Neon CRM is the broadest fit for nonprofits that want fundraising, communications, events, memberships, volunteers, and constituent records connected in one system.
Pricing and features
Neon CRM starts at $99 per month and uses revenue-based pricing rather than contact-count pricing. It advertises unlimited records and users. Optional modules add 10% for memberships, 10% for volunteers, and 20% for events. Published plan signals include Essentials at $99 per month, Impact at $209, and Empower at $409.
Features include donation forms, fundraising campaigns, recurring gifts, peer-to-peer fundraising, donor portals, email, text messaging, automated workflows, grant management, reporting, events, membership renewals, directories, and volunteer tools. Integrations listed by Neon include QuickBooks, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, and Windfall Data.

- KNOW WHAT IS WORKING AND WHAT IS NOT Each quarter opens with a structured review across revenue, time, clients, marketing, and content, so you understand what actually happened in your business before you decide what comes next.
- QUARTERLY PLANNING SYSTEM Break your annual vision into four focused 90-day plans using the 12-week-year structure that coaches and entrepreneurs rely on, giving you a strategic layer that sits above your daily calendar and holds the direction your scheduling tools cannot.
- TRACK REVENUE-GENERATING ACTIVITIES EVERY MONTH Every month gets a dedicated spread to set priorities, track revenue and the activities driving it, and review results against plan, keeping the business moving between quarterly reviews.
- A5 LINEN HARDCOVER, FULLY UNDATED A5 size (5.8" x 8.3") in linen with gold foil stamping, reinforced binding, and thick lay-flat pages built to hold a full year of planning. Organized by quarter and fully undated, so you start in any month without wasting a page. For business owners who invest in tools that match what they're building.
- A THOUGHTFUL GIFT FOR ENTREPRENEURS, COACHES AND CREATORS A quarterly planning system makes a purposeful gift for someone building a business alongside a full life, useful long after a birthday or a business milestone has passed because they will reach for it at the start of every quarter and every month.
Strengths and limitations
- Strengths: broad operational coverage, unlimited records, built-in forms, recurring giving, events, membership, volunteer management, and communications.
- Limitations: “unlimited records” does not mean unlimited cost. Revenue-based pricing and paid modules can make the system more expensive as the organization grows. A small nonprofit needing only gifts and acknowledgments may find it unnecessarily broad.
Neon’s breadth can also create a learning curve. Independent comparison coverage describes it as a capable all-in-one system while noting that specialized functions such as built-in wealth screening may require another product or integration.
Choose Neon CRM if: your organization wants one connected system for fundraising, events, memberships, volunteers, and communications.
Consider another option if: you need advanced wealth intelligence, deep enterprise customization, or only a very simple donor database.
3. Little Green Light: best affordable nonprofit CRM
Little Green Light is the clearest budget choice for a small nonprofit that needs constituent and gift tracking without the cost or complexity of an enterprise platform.
Pricing and features
Pricing starts at $45 per month for up to 2,500 constituents. The price rises to $60 for 5,000 records, $75 for 10,000, $90 for 20,000, and continues through $135 for 50,000. Accounts can contain up to 200,000 constituent records, with an additional $15 per month for each 10,000-record tier above 50,000.
Recommended Free Tools
Little Green Light offers a 30-day free period, unlimited users, no setup or cancellation fees, no contract requirement, and a 10% saving for annual prepayment. Online donation processing starts at 2.2% plus $0.30 per transaction, paid to the payment processor; the vendor states that it does not add an additional fee.
Strengths and limitations
- Strengths: transparent pricing, low entry cost, unlimited users, core functionality in one plan, and straightforward constituent and donation tracking.
- Limitations: record-based pricing includes donors, prospects, volunteers, event attendees, and other records—not just active donors. Complex automation, major-gift workflows, program management, and sophisticated events may require a more powerful system.
Review-based comparisons often describe Little Green Light as a practical fit for new or very small nonprofits while noting greater reliance on manual processes and less advanced automation. Treat those points as issues to test in a trial or demo.
Choose Little Green Light if: transparent pricing and affordable donor management are more important than an extensive suite of automation and program tools.
Consider another option if: your organization runs complex events, programs, memberships, or major-gift operations.

Pricing and features
Salesforce lists Nonprofit Cloud Enterprise at $60 per user per month and Unlimited at $100 per user per month, both billed annually. Usage restrictions apply, and the listed editions require an annual contract. Eligibility and terms for nonprofit pricing programs should be verified directly with Salesforce.
The platform includes a nonprofit data model, fundraising, campaigns, programs and outcomes, volunteer management, automation, accounting subledger functionality, reporting, analytics, and access to the broader Salesforce ecosystem.
Strengths and limitations
- Strengths: custom objects and workflows, broad integrations, program management, automation, reporting, and scalability for multi-department or multi-chapter organizations.
- Limitations: per-user licensing can grow quickly, while implementation, data migration, consulting, integrations, training, and administration may cost materially more than the software subscription.
For perspective, 10 Enterprise users at Salesforce’s published price would equal $600 per month before implementation, integrations, optional products, or other costs. That is a license calculation, not a total-cost estimate.
Flexibility also creates governance risk. Without a clear data model, documentation, permissions, and reporting standards, customizations can become inconsistent and difficult to maintain.
Choose Salesforce if: you have dedicated operations or technical resources and genuinely need a custom, scalable platform.
Consider another option if: your team is replacing spreadsheets and needs a simple donor database quickly.

5. Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT: best for complex advancement operations
Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT is aimed at established organizations with sophisticated fundraising, major-gift, prospect-management, reporting, and Blackbaud ecosystem requirements.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Pricing and features
Blackbaud’s public pricing page did not expose a current Raiser’s Edge NXT price in the supplied research. Treat it as a quote-based product. Some secondary coverage reports a starting signal of approximately $333 per month or more, but that should not be treated as a definitive quote.
Blackbaud materials describe donor management, online and offline gift processing, analytics, payment support, reporting, events, volunteer and membership capabilities, data enrichment, wealth ratings, and major-donor identification. A current proposal should specify which features, modules, services, and applications are included.
Strengths and limitations
- Strengths: nonprofit-specific advancement workflows, major-gift management, prospect intelligence, reporting, data enrichment, and integration with other Blackbaud products.
- Limitations: pricing is not transparent; implementation, training, data cleanup, and administration require separate planning; the platform may be excessive for a small organization.
Ask whether each required function is browser-based, which modules are included, how payment processing works, what support level applies, how renewal increases are handled, and what data can be exported.

DonorPerfect is a fundraising-oriented CRM for nonprofits that prioritize donor records, recurring gifts, campaign tracking, reporting, online forms, and accounting or email integrations.
Pricing and features
Current public pricing was not reliably exposed in the supplied sources, so treat DonorPerfect as custom or quote-based. Request pricing based on database size, users, online forms, payment processing, integrations, training, migration, and support.
Its feature set includes donor and gift history, recurring-giving management, campaigns and funds, custom donation forms, reporting, event management, email integrations, QuickBooks connectivity, workflow automation, and mobile functionality.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsStrengths and limitations
- Strengths: established nonprofit fundraising orientation, recurring giving, campaign tracking, reporting, integrations, and workflow tools.
- Limitations: quote-based pricing makes comparisons harder. A broader all-in-one system may be a better fit for organizations that need built-in membership, events, and volunteer operations.
Secondary comparison coverage praises reporting, recurring-giving management, and campaign functionality while raising questions about learning curve, interface design, additional fees, and donation-form limitations. Use those as demo topics rather than settled conclusions.
Choose DonorPerfect if: your team wants established fundraising tools and strong reporting without the full customization burden of Salesforce.
Consider another option if: transparent budgeting, a very simple interface, or a broad built-in events-and-membership suite is your priority.
Which nonprofit CRM is right for you?
- Replacing spreadsheets with basic donor tracking: Start with Little Green Light. Compare Bloomerang if donor engagement and retention reporting are more important.
- Running events, memberships, and volunteers alongside fundraising: Compare Neon CRM first, then verify the cost of each required module.
- Building a donor-retention and stewardship program: Look at Bloomerang, especially if segmentation and relationship history are central.
- Managing recurring giving and established fundraising reports: Compare DonorPerfect and Bloomerang.
- Operating a major-gifts or advancement department: Evaluate Raiser’s Edge NXT and DonorPerfect; consider Salesforce if custom workflows and integrations are essential.
- Managing multiple programs, departments, or chapters: Salesforce may offer the needed flexibility, provided you can fund implementation and administration.
- Working with a large database but modest revenue: Neon’s unlimited-record model may be attractive, but calculate the effect of revenue-based pricing and modules.
Understand the real cost before buying
Record-based pricing
With Little Green Light, count all constituent records, including inactive donors, prospects, volunteers, members, and event attendees. Database growth—not only active fundraising—can move you into a higher tier.
Revenue-based pricing
Neon CRM’s cost is tied to revenue and optional modules rather than simply the number of contacts. That may favor a nonprofit with many records and modest revenue, but costs can rise as fundraising income grows.
Best Value
- The Cambridge Action Planner Business Notebook has a gray soft-touch cover and ultra-smooth finish
- Notebook contains 80 double-sided sheets of white, legal ruled paper for a total of 160 notetaking pages
- Action Planner pages have designated sections for date, project number, title, notes and actions for easy organization
- Pages are perforated for clean and easy removal
- Pages measure 8-1/2" x 11"
Per-user pricing
Salesforce charges by user. Decide which employees, contractors, volunteers, and board members truly need paid access before comparing license totals.
Modules and payment processing
Bloomerang and Neon may separate or bundle fundraising, events, membership, and volunteer functions. Also compare card, ACH, digital-wallet, recurring-payment, refund, chargeback, and donor-covered-fee costs. Subscription pricing and payment processing are separate expenses.
Implementation and migration
Migration is not merely uploading a spreadsheet. Budget time for duplicate resolution, household and relationship mapping, historical gifts, campaigns and funds, recurring payments, consent records, notes, attachments, permissions, report rebuilding, training, testing, and launch support.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Contracts and exit terms
Before signing, ask whether the contract is annual or multiyear, whether it auto-renews, whether price increases are capped, whether early termination fees apply, and whether you can export constituents, gifts, activities, attachments, relationships, consent records, and recurring-gift information in a usable format.
Questions to ask during a demo
Require a scenario-based demonstration using your actual workflows. Ask the vendor to:
- Import a sample donor file and identify duplicate records.
- Merge a duplicate household without losing gift history.
- Record a pledge and partial payment.
- Produce a first-time, repeat, lapsed, and recurring-donor report.
- Create a segmented email or automated acknowledgment.
- Register an event attendee and demonstrate check-in.
- Process or explain recovery for a failed recurring gift.
- Export a complete constituent record, including notes and activities.
Also ask for a written list of included modules, user and record limits, payment fees, implementation services, support terms, renewal increases, and data-export formats.
Alternatives worth considering
The six products above are full nonprofit CRM options, but other tools may fit narrower needs:
Recommended Free Tools
- Givebutter: fundraising-first and budget-oriented, but potentially lighter CRM depth.
- Donorbox: focused on online donations and recurring giving.
- Keela: nonprofit-oriented platform for small and midsize organizations.
- Virtuous: automation-focused for midmarket and larger nonprofits.
- CiviCRM: flexible open-source software that generally requires technical or implementation support.
- HubSpot or Zoho CRM: general CRMs that may require significant nonprofit-specific configuration.
- Bonterra: relevant for advocacy and multichannel engagement use cases.
Final recommendation
For most small nonprofits, begin with Little Green Light, Bloomerang, and Neon CRM. Little Green Light is the value choice, Bloomerang is the relationship-focused choice, and Neon is the stronger all-in-one option. Established advancement teams should add DonorPerfect or Raiser’s Edge NXT to the shortlist, while technically capable organizations with complex workflows should evaluate Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud.
Request comparable proposals and calculate the cost of the exact configuration you will use. The right CRM is not the one with the longest feature list or lowest entry price; it is the one your team can afford, adopt, maintain, and eventually export from without losing the organization’s relationship history.
