What it does
Through Twój e-PIT, individuals can complete and submit their yearly Polish personal income-tax returns online. A draft based on information held by the tax administration is available for the filer to inspect, amend and send.
It is for individuals, including people with employment, business, rental or investment income, people claiming reliefs, and spouses filing jointly.
Fees and plans
Twój e-PIT has no charge. One government plan is listed, covering PIT-28, PIT-36, PIT-36L, PIT-37 and PIT-38 returns, together with PIT-OP and PIT-DZ when the stated conditions apply.
There is no free trial because the service is already free.
Where it runs
Users can access the service in a browser or via the e-Urząd Skarbowy mobile application. Google Play and the App Store provide the app for Android 10 or newer and iOS 16 or newer.
The mobile app supports Polish, English and Ukrainian. Adults who have a PESEL number may use it; organization accounts are not currently available there.
Protection, as published
Sign-in through gov.pl is listed with mObywatel, an e-ID, online banking or a Trusted Profile. Tax-data credentials and the e-US mobile app are listed as additional routes.
During setup, the mobile app allows a PIN and optional biometric authentication. A tax-data login session exposes only the user's own data and Twój e-PIT, with other e-Urząd Skarbowy services unavailable.
Strengths
A return is prepared from information already held by the tax administration, reducing manual entry. Users can add deductions such as child relief and donations.
Several PIT forms are covered, with individual or joint filing available, and the service operates all year, around the clock. Returns for the preceding year become available each 15 February.
Catches
Twój e-PIT handles Polish personal income tax only. No state filing is provided, and minor returns are not made available; in the described cases, a parent or legal guardian files for the child.
Signing in with tax data confines the session to the user's own data and Twój e-PIT. Mobile access is limited to adult PESEL holders, and organization accounts are not currently supported in the app.
The service is optional. If a taxpayer files another way, the tax office treats that independently filed return as the applicable one.
Who should skip it
It does not fit people filing tax returns outside Poland, organizations needing a mobile account, or anyone handling a minor's return directly in the service.
Verdict
Twój e-PIT suits individuals with Polish income who want a no-cost web or mobile route and whose return matches the listed PIT forms. Its pre-filled draft can include held income data, while manual changes allow listed reliefs and deductions.
It is less suitable for organizations, minors' filings, or taxpayers outside the Polish system. Mobile use also depends on the stated age, PESEL and operating-system requirements, and tax-data sign-in has a narrower service scope.
Who it suits
Pick it if
- Individuals filing eligible Polish PIT returns
- People with employment, rental, business or investment income
- Spouses filing jointly or claiming listed reliefs
Skip it if
- You need a non-Polish or state tax return
- You are filing for a minor inside the service
- Your organization needs a mobile account
