These were not current offers. Samsung opened U.S. pre-orders for the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, 2025, and general sales began February 7, 2025. The launch promotion has expired as of August 16, 2026. Samsung advertised up to $1,250 in combined value, while coverage often rounded that to “up to $1,200.” The total combined trade-in credit, storage value and Samsung Credit; it was not a universal cash discount.
This guide explains what each model cost, how the advertised savings were calculated, what trade-in risks mattered and how to compare Samsung, retailer and carrier offers if you are buying an S25 now.
What Samsung’s launch promotion actually included
Samsung’s U.S. announcement described up to $1,250 in total launch savings with an eligible trade-in and additional credits. The maximum depended on the phone model, storage tier, trade-in device and condition, the specific checkout promotion, and—in some cases—a prior reservation. See Samsung’s launch terms at Samsung’s reservation and trade-in announcement.
- Trade-in credit: applied toward the qualifying phone price, subject to inspection.
- Storage-upgrade value: a higher-capacity model for the lower tier’s price; it is not cash back.
- Samsung Credit: generally spendable on eligible Samsung products, not necessarily the handset itself.
- Reservation credit: a separate $50 Samsung Credit for qualifying users who reserved and then purchased with the same email address.
PhoneArena’s launch breakdown reported model-specific maximums, but those figures were conditional rather than guaranteed for every buyer: PhoneArena’s offer breakdown.

Launch prices and model-by-model value
| Model | U.S. starting price | Reported maximum launch incentives | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S25 | $799.99 | Up to $500 trade-in credit and up to $100 Samsung Credit, according to PhoneArena | Smallest, lowest-price entry to the series |
| Galaxy S25+ | $999.99 | Up to $700 trade-in credit and up to $100 Samsung Credit, according to PhoneArena | Larger display and battery without Ultra pricing |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra | $1,299.99 | Up to $900 trade-in credit, up to $120 storage-upgrade value and up to $350 Samsung Credit, according to PhoneArena | S Pen, highest-end cameras and largest display |
Samsung announced 128GB and 256GB S25 configurations, 256GB and 512GB S25+ configurations, and 256GB, 512GB and 1TB Ultra configurations. Prices and launch specifications are documented in Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement.
Galaxy S25
Choose the standard S25 if compact size and the lowest entry price matter more than maximum battery capacity or Ultra camera features. It uses the same Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy platform and 12GB RAM cited in Samsung’s launch coverage, but has the smaller display and battery. The reported $500 trade-in and $100 Samsung Credit were maximums, not automatic discounts.
Galaxy S25+
The S25+ targets buyers who want a larger screen and battery while skipping the Ultra’s S Pen and advanced camera hardware. Its $999.99 starting price was $200 above the standard S25, so compare your actual trade-in quote rather than assuming the larger model is the better bargain.

The Ultra makes sense when you will use its S Pen, camera flexibility, zoom capability and larger premium display. Its bigger headline incentive did not make it universally cheaper: the starting price was also $500 above the S25. A high-value trade-in could make the effective price competitive, but select it for the features, not the advertised maximum alone.

How “up to $1,200” was calculated
A qualifying Ultra buyer might combine a large trade-in credit, a free storage upgrade and Samsung Credit for accessories. Adding those categories can exceed $1,200 on paper, yet only the trade-in credit directly reduced the phone’s checkout price. Storage value depended on wanting the larger capacity, and Samsung Credit required eligible Samsung purchases.
Use this framework for any offer:
Effective cost = phone price − instant discount − valid trade-in credit − immediately usable store-credit value + required plan or accessory costs.
Do not treat a carrier’s “free phone” as the same as an unlocked discount. Carrier promotions usually arrive as monthly bill credits and may require a new line, an installment plan, an eligible service tier and remaining with the carrier for 24–36 months.
Reservation credit and its restrictions
Samsung offered a $50 Samsung Credit to customers who reserved an upcoming Galaxy device, then pre-ordered and purchased using the same email address. The credit was not a reduction in the handset price. Samsung’s terms required it to be used during the qualifying purchase toward eligible additional products, limited it to one per purchase and made it non-transferable. Canceling or returning the qualifying order could forfeit it.

Trade-in requirements and how to avoid a chargeback
Samsung’s launch terms required a submitted device to power on and hold a charge, have a functioning display, meet the applicable damage standard, avoid blacklisting, have a verified FCC ID, be reset and have account locks and personal information removed. The phone also had to be owned by the customer rather than leased.
Samsung applied the anticipated trade-in value at checkout, but its terms allowed a chargeback if the device was not shipped within 15 days of receiving the qualifying phone or if inspection found it ineligible. If a device arrived on time but failed the requirements, the stated chargeback could be reduced by $25.
- Photograph the phone, including screen and frame condition, before packing.
- Back up your data, factory-reset the device and remove SIM and memory cards.
- Disable Google, Samsung and other activation locks, then remove your accounts.
- Package it securely and keep the shipping receipt and tracking number.
- Read the exact trade-in terms shown at checkout; promotional conditions can differ.
Cracked or liquid-damaged phones, blacklisted devices, leased phones and phones with account locks may receive less than the estimate or no credit. Compare an independent resale quote before accepting Samsung’s offer if your device is marginal.

Can Samsung, retailer and carrier offers be combined?
Do not add every advertised maximum together. Samsung’s terms stated that the trade-in program could not be combined with other Samsung, carrier or retailer promotions unless the applicable terms specifically allowed it.

| Buying channel | Potential advantage | What to price into the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung.com or Samsung Shop App | Direct trade-in, Samsung Credit and unlocked options | Credit restrictions, shipping deadlines and actual checkout total |
| Retailer such as Amazon or Best Buy | Possible gift card, pickup or retailer financing | Gift-card usability, return rules and whether Samsung incentives are excluded |
| Carrier | Potentially the lowest handset cost through bill credits | New-line or upgrade requirements, taxes, activation fees, plan price and forfeited credits if you leave early |
| Unlocked purchase | Freedom to change carriers | Usually fewer carrier-specific bill credits |
Samsung announced pre-orders through Samsung.com, Amazon, Best Buy and nationwide carriers. The best channel depended on your trade-in, service needs and willingness to accept a long installment commitment.
Samsung Care+ was protection value, not a phone discount
Samsung announced 15% off Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss for S25 pre-orders. That was an insurance/protection incentive, not a reduction in the handset price. Coverage, deductibles and availability vary, so compare the plan with carrier insurance, credit-card benefits and self-insuring before assigning it a dollar value. See current coverage details at Samsung Care+.

The original pre-order window is closed. Samsung’s current pages may list the S25 as a buy-now product, but an indexed price is not a guaranteed August 2026 checkout price. Check the live Galaxy S25 product page and offers page, enter your exact trade-in and compare the final total with retailer and carrier quotes.
- Consider newer Galaxy flagship promotions if their effective cost is lower.
- Check refurbished or open-box S25 inventory when warranty and return terms are acceptable.
- For carrier deals, calculate the full service and installment cost, not just the advertised device credit.
- Use Samsung’s trade-in flow only after checking the condition rules and shipping deadline.
Samsung’s Galaxy Club page also contains historical S25 program information; its listed eligibility was limited to selected purchases before June 20, 2025, so do not assume those terms are available now: Galaxy Club terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Could every customer save $1,200 on a Galaxy S25 Ultra?
No. The maximum combined figure depended on an eligible, high-value trade-in, qualifying credits and storage value. Samsung Credit was not generally cash applied to the handset.
When did Galaxy S25 pre-orders end?
U.S. pre-orders opened January 22, 2025, and general availability began February 7, 2025. The launch offers are expired as of August 16, 2026.
What happens if Samsung rejects a trade-in?
Samsung’s launch terms allowed a chargeback when the phone was late or failed inspection. A device received on time but found ineligible could result in a chargeback reduced by $25 under those terms.

The Bottom Line
The 2025 promotion was most valuable for shoppers with a high-value eligible trade-in who wanted Samsung accessories or storage. It was not a universal $1,200 price cut, and it is no longer a live pre-order offer. For a purchase today, compare the complete Samsung, retailer and carrier cost—including plans, fees, credits and trade-in risk—before choosing a model.
