You cannot preorder the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 through Samsung’s original U.S. launch program anymore. Samsung opened preorders on July 10, 2024, and began general sales on July 24, 2024. The launch trade-in, storage-upgrade and Samsung Care+ incentives have expired. Samsung’s later U.S. MSRP documentation lists the Flip6 as end of life (EOL), so a listing you see now is regular, open-box, refurbished or used inventory—not a 2024 launch preorder.
If you are researching how the preorder worked, the steps and costs below document the U.S. process. If you want a new Samsung flip phone today, compare the current Galaxy Z Flip generation instead.
Can you still preorder the Galaxy Z Flip6?
No—not through the original U.S. preorder campaign. Samsung’s launch announcement set the preorder period for July 10 through July 23, 2024, with general availability beginning July 24, 2024. Launch incentives were available only during that period and while supplies lasted. Samsung’s launch announcement is a historical reference, not a current offer.

When and where was the U.S. preorder available?
During the 2024 launch, buyers could order through Samsung.com, the Shop Samsung app, Amazon, Best Buy and participating wireless carriers. Each route had different trade-offs:

Only a live product page can establish that a particular configuration or promotion is currently offered.
How the Samsung.com preorder worked
The following is the historical U.S. launch workflow. Samsung’s current site may redirect you to a newer Galaxy Z Flip model.

- Open Samsung’s phone-shopping or launch page. During the launch, the Flip6 preorder page was available on Samsung.com and in the Shop Samsung app.
- Select the configuration. Choose storage, color, unlocked or carrier model, accessories and optional Samsung Care+.
- Choose unlocked or carrier. An unlocked phone offered more carrier flexibility. A carrier model could qualify for installments or bill credits but generally required an eligible line and plan.
- Add a trade-in. Enter the exact old-phone model and condition. The launch offer advertised up to $1,000 in promotional value, subject to eligibility and inspection. Samsung’s offer announcement did not make that maximum a guaranteed credit.
- Select payment. Review the total price separately from any monthly installment, estimated trade-in credit or future carrier bill credits. Full payment, Samsung financing, carrier installments and retailer financing had different terms.
- Review the order terms. Confirm estimated delivery, cancellation rules, trade-in deadline, inspection terms, return window, activation requirements and whether accessories or protection coverage must be claimed separately.
- Complete checkout and save records. Keep the order number, confirmation email, trade-in quote, promotional terms, estimated delivery date and any carrier installment agreement.
Launch price and preorder incentives
Samsung’s historical U.S. MSRP was $1,099.99 for 256GB and $1,219.99 for 512GB. Those are launch MSRP figures, not current prices. Samsung’s December 2025 U.S. price file lists the 256GB Flip6 as EOL. Samsung’s U.S. MSRP documentation records the historical pricing.
- Trade-in: up to $1,000 in promotional value for an eligible Flip6 purchase, depending on model, condition and inspection.
- Storage upgrade: during the July 10–23, 2024 launch period, Samsung offered 512GB at the 256GB price, while supplies lasted.
- Samsung Care+: one year was offered for qualifying carrier purchases made through Samsung.com when Care+ was enrolled at the same time; it was not automatically included with every order.
Samsung’s terms generally limited combining trade-in offers with other Samsung, carrier or retailer promotions unless the specific terms allowed it. Compare the total value of competing offers rather than assuming every discount stacks. Samsung’s current offers and terms should be checked for any live purchase.
Should you choose 256GB or 512GB?

The 512GB-at-256GB launch deal was limited to the 2024 preorder period and stock availability.
Unlocked versus carrier: compare the real commitment
Unlocked
An unlocked Flip6 could be used with compatible carriers and avoided a long bill-credit commitment. It might not qualify for the largest carrier promotion, however, so compare the net price after trade-in.

Carrier financing
A headline “free” or low monthly price commonly depended on a qualifying trade-in, plan, new line and 24- or 36-month bill-credit schedule. Ask what happens if you change plans, cancel service, pay off the phone early or leave the carrier; remaining credits may stop, and the device may remain subject to carrier restrictions until eligibility conditions are met.
Instant discount versus bill credits
- Instant discount: applied at checkout or immediately.
- Bill credits: received over future monthly bills while the installment and service requirements continue.
Trade-in checklist and common failure points
An initial quote was not a guarantee. Samsung could reprice or reject a device after inspection if the model, condition or required components differed from the submission.

- Back up photos, messages and authenticator data.
- Transfer eSIM information and account credentials.
- Record the IMEI and photograph or video the device’s condition.
- Remove the lock screen and Google and Samsung accounts.
- Factory-reset the phone.
- Follow Samsung’s packaging and shipping instructions and meet the deadline.
- Keep tracking and shipment proof until acceptance is confirmed.
Frequent problems included sending the wrong device, shipping late, describing a cracked phone as excellent, omitting a required component, sending unnecessary accessories or trading in a phone still subject to a carrier balance. Review the inspection reason before accepting a revised value; declining it may involve return shipping or loss of a promotion.

- Delayed or missing page: Confirm the country site and whether Samsung has redirected you to a newer Flip. Search regular, refurbished or certified-pre-owned inventory rather than assuming a preorder exists.
- Delivery estimate changes: Popular colors and storage tiers could sell out, and exclusive colors, accessories or trade-in kits could arrive separately. Treat an estimate as non-guaranteed unless your confirmation expressly says otherwise.
- Payment failure: An authorization failure could cancel the order or remove a promotion. Check the order portal before placing a duplicate order.
- Carrier confusion: Ask whether the offer requires a new line, particular plan, trade-in or continued service, and whether early payoff ends credits.
- Cancellation decision: Before cancelling a delayed order, determine whether cancellation also removes promotional pricing, trade-in credits or carrier benefits.
What should you buy today?
Samsung’s current materials promote newer Galaxy Z Flip models, while the Flip6 is marked EOL in later U.S. MSRP documentation. Samsung’s December 2025 price file provides that EOL designation.

Certified refurbished Flip6
This can make sense when the discount is substantial. Verify who certified it, the warranty, battery-health guarantee, return period and whether the model is unlocked.
Used marketplace Flip6
Before paying, verify the IMEI, activation status, exact model number, hinge and screen condition, financing status, warranty and return policy. A used listing is not a preorder.
The Bottom Line
The Galaxy Z Flip6’s U.S. preorder ended July 23, 2024. Use the historical Samsung.com workflow only as a reference; in 2026, compare a newer Galaxy Z Flip or carefully verified refurbished and used Flip6 stock instead.
