Amazon’s second major Australian Prime shopping event of 2024 was a six-day, Prime-focused promotion aimed at early Christmas buying. It ended at 11:59 p.m. AEDT on Sunday 13 October 2024, so this guide is an event recap rather than a live deal page. Historical membership prices, discounts and product availability should not be treated as current 2026 offers.

Prime Big Deal Days was Amazon’s October 2024 Prime-member shopping event, positioned as an early-holiday and Christmas promotion. It was not simply a second name for July Prime Day: it was a separate sale with its own six-day window, changing inventory and time-sensitive offers.

How offers worked
- Prime-exclusive price: a lower price shown to eligible members.
- Coupon: a discount that could require ticking a coupon box before checkout.
- Lightning Deal: a limited-time or limited-quantity offer.
- Ordinary sale: a promotion that may be available without Prime.
A countdown or large “up to” percentage did not prove that an item was at its lowest-ever price. Seller, postcode, stock, configuration and checkout timing could change the final offer.
When did it run in Australia?
The event started at 12:01 a.m. AEDT on Tuesday 8 October 2024 and ended at 11:59 p.m. AEDT on Sunday 13 October 2024—six calendar days. AEDT was the relevant daylight-saving designation for much of eastern Australia. Shoppers in other states were better served by the local time displayed on Amazon rather than manually converting the start time.
Did shoppers need Amazon Prime?
Prime members could access the Prime-exclusive prices. In September 2024, Amazon advertised a 30-day trial, A$9.99 per month and A$79 per year; those were the terms promoted at the time, not a verified 2026 price. Check the live Amazon Prime Australia page for current pricing and eligibility.

Joining only for the sale made sense when the expected discount plus delivery value exceeded the membership cost. It was less attractive when one small purchase produced a saving below the fee, when another retailer matched the price without membership, or when the trial would renew before cancellation.

Review the renewal date and cancellation terms shown in your account before starting a trial. Prime benefits such as Prime Video or Prime Reading may improve the value for households that will use them, but they do not make an inflated product price a good deal.
What were the early deals?
Verified 2024 pre-event information
Amazon’s 17 September 2024 announcement confirmed participating brands including Anker, Bose, Dyson, ECOVACS, LEGO, Philips, SharkNinja, Sony, Tineco, Adidas and Bonds. It said offers would drop during the six-day event, but the announcement did not provide a complete, durable list of 2024 early-deal prices. Pre-event prices could change, sell out or be replaced.
2023 examples are context, not 2024 inventory
Amazon’s separate 2023 early-deals announcement documented more than 70 member offers in the seven days before that year’s event. It included up to 50% off selected ECOVACS, Bose, Echo and Fire TV products, up to 48% off a Ring Spotlight Cam Wired, and discounts on Roborock, Corsair, Bosch, Miele, Philips, De’Longhi, LEGO, GHD, baby, fashion and pet products. Those examples show the type of promotion Amazon had used previously; they do not establish 2024 prices.

Amazon’s source for these percentages is its live 2024 deal list. Contemporaneous GadgetGuy coverage also listed Echo Pop at A$32, Echo Dot at A$49, Echo Spot at A$99, Echo Show 5 at A$119, Ring Indoor Camera at A$49, Ring Battery Video Doorbell at A$99 and Ring Battery Video Doorbell Plus at A$159. Which categories mattered most?
Amazon devices
Echo speakers and displays, Echo Spot, Kindle and Kindle Scribe, Ring cameras and doorbells, and Fire TV products were prominent. Check storage, generation, included accessories, advertising-supported versions and any subscription requirement.
Smart-home and security
Ring, smart speakers, robot vacuums, baby or pet monitors and connected accessories suited existing smart-home users. Consider privacy settings, cloud subscriptions, account requirements and platform compatibility.
Home appliances
Dyson, ECOVACS, Roborock, Tineco, Philips, Breville, Instant Pot and Russell Hobbs appeared among the relevant brands. For robot vacuums, compare mapping, obstacle avoidance, mopping, dock functions, replacement parts and app support—not only the discount.

Consumer technology
Headphones, earbuds, portable speakers, soundbars, TVs, projectors, Chromebooks, memory cards and smartwatches covered the main technology needs. Verify the exact model, connectivity, panel features, codecs, battery claims and Australian warranty.
Christmas and everyday purchases
LEGO and toys, fashion and footwear, beauty, baby products, household supplies, food and drink, books, games and Australian small-business products broadened the event beyond electronics.
How to judge whether an Amazon deal was genuinely good
- Check membership terms: confirm current Prime pricing and trial eligibility at Amazon Prime Australia.
- Build a precise shortlist: record model number, generation, storage, colour, bundle and seller before the sale.
- Use a wishlist or alerts: Amazon recommended wishlists and deal notifications for monitoring products; its guidance is at this shopping-tips page.
- Compare Australian retailers: check the exact model at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Harvey Norman, Kogan, the manufacturer and other relevant stores.

Prime Big Deal Days versus Black Friday
Prime Big Deal Days offered Prime exclusivity, Amazon convenience and early Christmas timing. Black Friday normally gives shoppers a wider set of retailers and brands. Neither event is reliably cheapest every year: compare the exact model’s actual price, seller, warranty and delivery rather than assuming one calendar event wins.
What happened to the 2024 deals?
The October 2024 prices expired with the event or when stock changed. Do not treat an old product page, countdown or “was” price as a current offer. For present-day membership information, use Amazon’s live Prime page; for products, verify the current seller, price and delivery before linking or buying. Should shoppers have bought?
Buying during the event was defensible when the product was already needed, the exact configuration had a strong recent price and the seller and warranty were acceptable. Waiting was sensible for a newly launched, poorly reviewed or widely stocked product likely to receive competing discounts. A high advertised percentage, countdown timer or Prime label alone was not a reason to spend.
