“Must-have” should mean a gadget solves a recurring problem—not that it is trending or marked down. These 20 picks cover charging, travel, audio, work, home, fitness and cooking, with notes on compatibility, ownership costs and who can skip each one. You do not need all 20: start with the problem you actually want to solve.
Prices and listings change, and a discount is not automatically a bargain. Treat any price shown on a retailer page as a snapshot; compare the exact model, seller, warranty and included accessories before checkout. Recommendations below link to product makers or relevant buying coverage so you can verify current details.
How to read this guide: Compatibility labels describe the main fit, not every feature or configuration. “Subscription may apply” means some useful functions can depend on a paid plan; check the current terms before buying. Amazon can be convenient for delivery and comparison, while the manufacturer is often the clearest source for model, warranty and accessory details.

1. Anker Nano Power Bank 10K 45W — best for commuters and travel
A portable battery with a built-in USB-C cable can reduce the number of small items you have to pack. The 45W output is also more useful for compatible tablets and some lightweight laptops than a low-wattage phone-only bank. TechRadar listed it around $54.99–$59.99, but prices vary. Check Anker for the current model and compare the exact listing on Amazon.
#1 Best Overall
- MEET ECHO SPOT - A sleek smart alarm clock with Alexa and big vibrant sound. Ready to help you wake up, wind down, and so much more.
- CUSTOMIZABLE SMART CLOCK - See time, weather, and song titles at a glance, control smart home devices, and more. Personalize your display with your favorite clock face and fun colors.
- BIG VIBRANT SOUND - Enjoy rich sound with clear vocals and deep bass. Just ask Alexa to play music, podcasts, and audiobooks. See song titles and touch to control your music.
- EASE INTO THE DAY - Set up an Alexa routine that gently wakes you with music and gradual light. Glance at the time, check reminders, or ask Alexa for weather updates.
- KEEP YOUR HOME COMFORTABLE - Control compatible smart home devices. Just ask Alexa to turn on lights or touch the screen to dim. Create routines that use motion detection to turn down the thermostat as you head out or open the blinds when you walk into a room.
Compatibility: USB-C devices that accept the bank’s output; charging speed depends on the device and cable. Keep in mind: 10,000mAh is the cell rating, not the amount delivered to a phone; conversion losses reduce usable capacity. A built-in cable is convenient but harder to replace if it fails. Power banks belong in carry-on baggage, not checked luggage; confirm current airline rules. Skip it if: you need laptop-class capacity or several outputs at once.
2. Anker Nano Charger 45W — best compact wall charger
A compact USB-C wall charger is a practical replacement for a slow or bulky adapter. TechRadar reported retailer listings ranging roughly from $25.49 to $44.99; check the exact version and whether a cable is included. Verify specifications with Anker.
Compatibility: USB-C phones, tablets and some laptops, subject to their charging requirements. Keep in mind: a single port will not charge several devices at once, and 45W may be insufficient for some laptops. Skip it if: you need multiple ports or higher laptop charging power.

3. Anker Prime 6-in-1 Travel Power Strip — best for hotel-room outlet shortages
This travel strip turns one outlet into a combination of AC and USB connections; PCWorld describes up to 140W across its USB-C ports. It can be useful when a room has too few outlets for a laptop, phone and accessories. PCWorld listed it around $80, with sale prices sometimes below $60. Check the current Anker model and its port ratings.
Keep in mind: a power strip is not a voltage converter. International travelers may need a country-specific plug adapter, and devices must support the local voltage. Check total output limits and outlet compatibility. Skip it if: a single compact charger already covers your usual trips.
4. Twelve South AirFly Pro — best for using Bluetooth headphones with airplane entertainment
AirFly Pro transmits audio from a compatible analog headphone jack to Bluetooth headphones. It can be handy when you want to use your own headphones with a seat-back screen. NBC Select and PCWorld cover it as a travel audio option; NBC Select listed it around $54.99. Check Twelve South for current compatibility and setup details.
Keep in mind: the aircraft needs a compatible headphone jack, and pairing, volume and seat-back behavior can vary. The adapter needs its own charge. Skip it if: you rarely use in-flight entertainment or are content with wired headphones.
Trackers: choose for your phone, not the sale
5. Apple AirTag 4-pack — best for iPhone households
An AirTag can help locate keys, bags or luggage through Apple’s Find My network. NBC Select listed a four-pack at $64.99 on sale against a $99 reference price; that was a snapshot, not a guaranteed current deal. Check Apple’s AirTag details.
Compatibility: most useful with Apple devices and the Find My network. Keep in mind: it is not a GPS tracker with guaranteed live location; updates depend on nearby network devices. Do not rely on it as theft recovery or a personal-safety device. Skip it if: your household uses Android exclusively.
6. Tile Pro — best alternative for many Android users
Tile Pro offers app-based finding across phone platforms and has a replaceable battery and built-in key-ring loop, according to NBC Select. The publication reported direct Bluetooth range of up to 500 feet; actual finding also depends on obstacles, phone connection and the Tile network. Its cited sale snapshot was $24.99 versus $34.99. Check Tile’s current models and supported features.
Keep in mind: Bluetooth range is not a promise of location anywhere; network coverage and app permissions matter. Compare account and subscription terms before deciding. Skip it if: you expect GPS-style live tracking.
7. UGREEN Finder trackers — best to consider for a rechargeable multi-pack
PCWorld highlighted UGREEN’s rechargeable four-pack as a luggage-tracking option for Apple and Android devices. The appeal is having several trackers without buying separate single units. Confirm the exact U.S. model’s supported finding networks and phone compatibility before purchase; capabilities can differ by generation.
Keep in mind: all Bluetooth trackers rely on compatible devices and their finding networks for remote location updates; none guarantees recovery. Skip it if: you cannot verify that the current model supports the phone ecosystem you use.
Audio and entertainment
8. Apple AirPods 4 or AirPods Pro 2 — best for Apple-device owners
AirPods are a compact everyday audio option, with the choice between models depending on fit and whether you want the Pro model’s additional noise-control features. Tom’s Guide listed AirPods 4 at $99 against a $129 reference price in an August 2026 deal roundup; that temporary price should not be treated as current. Compare current AirPods models at Apple.

Compatibility: they can connect to non-Apple Bluetooth devices, but Apple-device integration is a key part of their appeal. Keep in mind: fit, noise cancellation and features differ by model. Active noise cancellation reduces some sound; it does not block everything. Skip it if: you use Android and can get better value or fit from another brand.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems9. Sony WH-1000XM5 — best over-ear travel headphones
Over-ear headphones can be more comfortable than earbuds for long listening sessions, and the WH-1000XM5 is a noise-canceling option PCWorld includes in its travel coverage. PCWorld listed it around $280, with some sales below $250. Check Sony’s specifications and compare current alternatives, including newer Sony, Bose and Apple models.
Compatibility: Bluetooth devices, with features varying by operating system and app. Keep in mind: it takes more bag space than earbuds, and no noise-canceling headphone blocks every sound. Skip it if: small size or low cost matters more than over-ear comfort and noise control.
10. JBL Go 5 — best small Bluetooth speaker
A pocketable speaker is useful for a desk, picnic or hotel room when phone speakers are not enough. TechRadar lists the JBL Go 5 with an IP68 rating and around $54.95 pricing, with lower retailer listings reported. Check JBL’s current model and rating details.
Compatibility: Bluetooth audio sources. Keep in mind: a small enclosure cannot provide the bass or room-filling sound of a larger speaker; confirm whether the exact model supports any stereo-pairing or microphone features you need. Water resistance is not indestructibility. Skip it if: you want deep bass or loud sound for a large space.

11. Kindle Paperwhite — best for distraction-free reading
A dedicated e-reader makes sense if you read regularly and want a screen focused on books rather than apps and notifications. Kindle was among the device categories Amazon highlighted in its 2026 shopping coverage. Check the current Paperwhite generation and configuration.
Keep in mind: storage, waterproofing, lock-screen advertising and other details depend on configuration. Buying ebooks through Amazon can make switching ecosystems less convenient. Skip it if: you need color apps, video or a general-purpose tablet.
12. Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max or a current 4K model — best for an older or limited TV interface
A streaming stick can add or update streaming apps on a compatible television. Amazon promoted Fire TV devices during its 2026 Prime Day event, which ran June 23–26, but that event is over. Compare current Fire TV models and remotes.
Keep in mind: check TV resolution, Wi-Fi, remote version and the interface’s advertising and content choices. You may not gain much if your television already runs the apps you use well. Skip it if: your existing TV interface is satisfactory.

13. Crucial X9 Pro portable SSD — best for a second copy of travel files
A portable SSD can hold photos and video without relying entirely on cloud access. PCWorld describes the X9 Pro as compact, with 10Gbps performance. Check Crucial’s current capacity, connection and durability specifications.
Compatibility: depends on the computer or phone’s port, operating system, file system and included or required cable. Keep in mind: a drive is not a backup if it is the only copy. Keep another copy elsewhere, and check capacity, encryption and water-resistance details for the exact version. Skip it if: you do not have a plan to keep a second copy of important files.
14. Apple 11-inch iPad — best general-purpose tablet
A tablet can cover streaming, reading, travel apps, casual work and smart-home controls. Tom’s Guide reported a temporary $399 price for the Wi-Fi, 128GB configuration on August 14, 2026, against a $449 reference price. Verify the current model and configuration with Apple.
Compatibility: Apple’s iPadOS ecosystem and apps. Keep in mind: do not confuse the base iPad with Air or Pro models. Storage and cellular options alter the price, and a case, keyboard or stylus may cost extra. Skip it if: your only goal is comfortable, focused reading; an e-reader is usually a better fit.
15. Logitech MX Master 3S — best productivity mouse for long computer days
Programmable controls and an ergonomic shape can make repetitive desktop work more comfortable for some people. Check Logitech’s current compatibility and connection options.

- Alexa can show you more - Echo Show 5 includes a 5.5” display so you can see news and weather at a glance, make video calls, view compatible cameras, stream music and shows, and more.
- Small size, bigger sound – Stream your favorite music, shows, podcasts, and more from providers like Amazon Music, Spotify, and Prime Video—now with deeper bass and clearer vocals. Includes a 5.5" display so you can view shows, song titles, and more at a glance.
- Keep your home comfortable – Control compatible smart devices like lights and thermostats, even while you're away.
- See more with the built-in camera – Check in on your family, pets, and more using the built-in camera. Drop in on your home when you're out or view the front door from your Echo Show 5 with compatible video doorbells.
- See your photos on display – When not in use, set the background to a rotating slideshow of your favorite photos. Invite family and friends to share photos to your Echo Show. Prime members also get unlimited cloud photo storage.
Compatibility: verify operating-system support and whether you plan to use Bluetooth or the included receiver; Mac and Windows options can differ. Keep in mind: ergonomic fit is personal, and the mouse is not designed for every hand size or competitive gaming. Skip it if: a basic mouse already works comfortably for you.
16. Fitbit Charge 6 — best compact activity tracker
A fitness band can make activity, heart-rate and workout trends easy to check without wearing a full smartwatch. Amazon highlighted the Charge 6 in 2026 deal coverage. Check Fitbit’s current feature and plan details.
Compatibility: confirm current phone and app requirements. Keep in mind: some coaching or health-related features may require Fitbit Premium. Heart rate, sleep and calorie figures are estimates, not medical diagnoses. Battery life changes with GPS, display and notification settings. Skip it if: you dislike wearing a device or sharing wearable data.
17. A platform-compatible smart plug — best inexpensive home automation
A smart plug can schedule or remotely switch a suitable lamp or other appliance, without replacing the appliance itself. Kasa, Amazon and Philips Hue are among the established ecosystems to compare. Check Kasa models and platform support or verify the equivalent details for the smart-home platform you already use.
Compatibility: depends on the plug, app, Wi-Fi and voice-assistant ecosystem; some setups may require a hub. Keep in mind: check the plug’s amperage and indoor/outdoor rating, and do not use it with an appliance whose load or operation is unsuitable. Skip it if: the device needs manual supervision or the plug’s ratings do not match its electrical load.
18. Dreo smart fan — best for app-based comfort controls
A smart fan can add remote controls or schedules to an everyday comfort appliance. Tom’s Guide listed a Dreo fan at $62 against a $79 reference price in an August 14, 2026 deal roundup; this is a past snapshot, not a live offer. Check Dreo’s current models and specifications.
Compatibility: check Wi-Fi, app and smart-assistant support for the specific model. Keep in mind: weigh noise, airflow, cleaning, placement and app requirements more heavily than novelty settings. Skip it if: you do not need remote control or scheduling; a basic fan may cost less and do the job.

19. Blink Outdoor 4 — best to consider for basic outdoor monitoring
An outdoor camera can let you check a doorway, driveway or other area remotely. Amazon promoted Blink Outdoor 4 in its 2026 Prime Day coverage. Check Blink’s current storage, subscription and camera terms before choosing a package.
Compatibility: requires a suitable network and account; storage features depend on the current plan and setup. Keep in mind: battery life varies with motion, temperature, Wi-Fi and recording settings. Understand whether footage is stored locally or in the cloud, review privacy settings, and aim cameras to avoid unnecessarily recording neighbors or public areas. A camera is not a complete security system or a guarantee against crime. Skip it if: you do not want to manage batteries, privacy settings or possible recurring costs.
20. Instant-read cooking thermometer — best low-cost kitchen upgrade
A quick temperature reading is useful for cooking meat, checking oil and making candy or other temperature-sensitive recipes. Digital food thermometers appear among Amazon’s popular kitchen products, but popularity alone does not establish quality. Compare accuracy, calibration, probe speed and cleaning requirements rather than choosing by review count alone.
Keep in mind: check waterproofing and follow authoritative food-safety temperature guidance for the food you are cooking. Skip it if: you rarely cook anything where temperature affects doneness or safety.

AirTag, Tile Pro or UGREEN Finder?
| Choose | Best fit | What to remember |
|---|---|---|
| AirTag | People already using iPhone and Apple’s Find My network | Not a default choice for Android-only users; network-assisted finding is not GPS. |
| Tile Pro | Many Android or mixed-device households | Check app, subscription and network details; direct Bluetooth range is not a guaranteed location radius. |
| UGREEN Finder | Buyers interested in a rechargeable multipack | Verify the exact current model’s supported networks and phone features before checkout. |
Power bank, wall charger or travel power strip?
- Power bank: supplies power away from an outlet. Useful for commuting and travel; check capacity, output and carry-on rules.
- Wall charger: charges from an outlet. Best when you need a compact adapter and can recharge where you stay.
- Travel power strip: expands access to an outlet for several devices. It does not convert voltage and is usually unnecessary for a short trip with one phone.
These tools solve different problems; buying all three only makes sense if your routine genuinely requires each one.
Kindle Paperwhite or iPad?
Choose a Kindle if reading comfort, long reading sessions and fewer distractions are the priority. Choose an iPad if you also need video, color apps, web browsing or general-purpose work. An e-reader is not a cheaper substitute for a tablet’s full feature set, and a tablet is not necessarily a better reading device.
How to tell whether an Amazon deal is worth buying
Amazon’s 2026 shopping coverage says some product pages provide up to 365 days of price-history insights and support price alerts or target-price notifications. Those tools can help establish context, but a displayed discount does not prove that the current price is exceptional. Amazon’s Prime Day ran June 23–26, 2026; those promotions are past, not current.
- Match the exact model. Check model number, generation, capacity, color and included accessories. A discount on an older or stripped-down configuration is not a fair comparison.
- Check who is selling and fulfilling it. Compare Amazon, the manufacturer and reputable retailers. For unfamiliar third-party sellers, examine return terms and confirm that the U.S. warranty applies.
- Read the price history. Compare the current price with the product’s typical street price, not only a crossed-out reference price. Set an alert if the purchase is not urgent.
- Find the real checkout price. See whether the offer requires Prime, a coupon, a subscription or a particular payment method. Include accessories you need but the listing may not include.
- Calculate ongoing costs. Consider cloud storage, app plans, replacement batteries, proprietary cables and other consumables before comparing two products.
- Use Amazon for convenience; use the maker to verify. Amazon can be useful for delivery and marketplace comparison. The official product page is often better for confirming specifications, support, warranty and replacement parts. Buying direct is not automatically cheaper.
Amazon bestseller rankings can reveal what shoppers are buying, but sales rank and review volume are not independent proof of durability or value. For a gadget you will rely on, weigh the use case, compatibility, return policy and total cost more heavily than a large percentage-off badge.
