To make a personal Venmo QR code, open the app, tap Me, tap the QR-code button by your profile picture, and choose Venmo me. For a business profile, switch to that profile and tap Charge → QR code → Venmo me. Use Venmo me when you want someone to find and pay your profile; Show to Pay is a different feature for customers paying participating merchants.
Make a personal Venmo QR code
- Open the Venmo app and tap Me.
- Tap the QR-code button on or near your profile picture.
- Tap Venmo me.
Your personal Venmo me code is linked to your profile. You can display it on your phone for someone nearby to scan, or tap the share button to send it by text, email, or another available app. These are the current app steps; labels and placement may change as Venmo updates its interface. Venmo’s personal QR-code instructions describe this flow.
You do not need a business profile to make a personal QR code or receive ordinary person-to-person payments. If you accept payment for goods or services, consider whether a business profile is more appropriate; Venmo says business profiles are designed for those payments and are subject to fees and tax-reporting requirements.

- Open Venmo and switch to your business profile.
- Tap Charge at the bottom of the business profile.
- Tap QR code, then Venmo me.
From there, you can show the code to a customer or share it electronically. Venmo also provides a printer option for downloading a high-quality PDF for a business sign or checkout area. The documented PDF option is for business-profile codes; Venmo’s personal-code instructions describe displaying and sharing, but do not establish the same PDF-print workflow for personal accounts. A business profile is attached to a personal Venmo account, not a separate login. You access it with your personal account credentials and switch profiles in the app. Venmo may ask for identity or business verification; requirements can vary with the account and business type. Business profiles also involve fees and tax-reporting requirements, so check Venmo’s current information before accepting commercial payments rather than assuming the QR code or profile is free. Add a preset amount to a business QR code
A business profile can create a QR code with an amount already filled in:
- Switch to the business profile and tap Charge → QR code → Venmo me.
- Tap the $ option, enter the amount, and tap Set Amount.
- Share, display, or print that code as needed.
The preset is a convenience, not a locked price: the customer can edit the amount, including to add a tip or apply a discount. Venmo says only one preset QR code can be live in the app at a time. If you need signs for several prices, create each preset in turn and save or screenshot its code before setting up the next one; use the saved versions separately. Venmo’s QR-code guidance covers these limits.

“Venmo me” versus “Show to Pay”
| Option | What it is for |

| Venmo me | A receiving code that takes someone to your personal or business profile so they can pay you or, where available, request money. |
| Show to Pay | A customer’s in-store payment code for a participating merchant to scan. It is not the code to create when you want people to find your profile and pay you. |
For a payment QR code you plan to display, select Venmo me. Venmo explains the distinct in-store use in its in-store QR-code FAQ.
How someone scans your code
For a personal code, the other person can open Venmo, tap Scan at the top of the app, and center the camera over the code. If you shared the code as an image, they can tap the photo icon at the bottom of the scanner and select the saved image. A phone’s camera may also take someone to the relevant profile or payment flow, but do not assume that every camera will complete a payment without opening Venmo or asking the payer to continue.
For a business code, the customer should scan it, check that the correct business profile appears, review or enter the amount, and confirm the payment. Ask payers to check the displayed name and username before sending money, especially when they use a printed sign or saved image. Venmo’s business-payment guidance advises customers to verify the business profile.

If the QR code does not appear or scan
- Can’t find the QR button? Return to the Me tab and look beside your profile picture. For a business code, first switch into the business profile, then use Charge → QR code. Updating the app may help if the controls differ; if the option is still missing, contact Venmo support through the app.
- The scanner cannot read the code? Make sure Venmo has camera permission, the phone is online, and the full code is visible, sharp, large enough, and well lit. Avoid cropped, blurry, compressed, or partly covered images.
- Check camera permission. On iPhone, go to Settings → Privacy → Camera and enable Venmo. On Android, go to Settings → Applications → Venmo → Permissions and allow camera access. Names and paths can vary by operating-system version.
- Still unable to find the profile? Venmo recommends checking internet access and whether either person has blocked the other. Confirm that you shared the right profile’s code, and that you selected Venmo me, not Show to Pay.
These checks follow Venmo’s personal QR-code troubleshooting guidance. Because a QR code directs the payer to a particular profile, verify the recipient before confirming any payment.
Where Venmo QR codes work
Venmo’s personal-account FAQ says the service is currently accessible only in the United States. A Venmo QR code should not be treated as an internationally portable payment method; the payer needs access to the Venmo profile and payment flow. Check Venmo’s account-availability FAQ for its current availability information.

Can I make a Venmo QR code without a business account?
Yes. Use your personal profile’s QR-code button and choose Venmo me. A business profile is not required for ordinary personal payments.

Can I print a personal Venmo QR code?
Venmo documents a printer option to download a high-quality PDF for business-profile QR codes. For a personal code, Venmo documents displaying and sharing it; you can save or screenshot the displayed code as a practical workaround, but the official help does not establish the same PDF-print option for personal accounts.
Can someone scan my Venmo QR code from a screenshot?
Yes. In Venmo’s scanner, the other person can tap the photo icon and select the saved image. The code needs to be complete and clear enough to read.
