Rogers’ reported July 2025 plan change did two things at once: it removed 25GB of included data from several advertised plans and raised their listed monthly prices by $5. The affected examples changed from 125GB to 100GB, 200GB to 175GB, and 275GB to 250GB.
Those figures were historical July 2025 prices, shown after a $10 monthly automatic-payment discount—not Rogers’ current August 2026 lineup. A separate $5 Rogers wireless rate adjustment was also scheduled for July 15, 2026, so the two events should not be confused.
What changed in July 2025?
MobileSyrup reported on July 9, 2025, that Rogers removed a 25GB data bonus from several listed plans while increasing each listed price by $5. In other words, this was both a price increase and a reduction in the high-speed data allowance.

The reported prices included a $10-per-month automatic-payment discount. They were also service prices, not necessarily the final bill total, which can include taxes, device financing, credits, roaming charges and other adjustments.

How much value was lost?
Assuming 12 full months, the $5 increase added $60 per line annually before tax. Every listed plan also lost 25GB of monthly data:
- 125GB to 100GB: 20% less data.
- 200GB to 175GB: 12.5% less data.
- 275GB to 250GB: approximately 9.1% less data.
The simple price-per-included-gigabyte calculation also increased:
- $65 divided by 125GB was $0.52 per GB; $70 divided by 100GB was $0.70 per GB.
- $75 divided by 200GB was $0.375 per GB; $80 divided by 175GB was approximately $0.457 per GB.
- $95 divided by 275GB was approximately $0.345 per GB; $100 divided by 250GB was $0.40 per GB.
These calculations describe the advertised allowance. They do not measure network speed, coverage, roaming value or how much data an individual customer actually uses.

Did existing Rogers customers lose 25GB?
Not necessarily. The available July 2025 reporting establishes a change to several listed plans, but it does not prove that every existing Rogers customer was automatically moved to a lower-data version.
The result could differ depending on whether you were:
- A new customer activating one of the revised plans.
- An existing customer who voluntarily changed plans.
- On a grandfathered plan that Rogers continued to honour.
- Using a promotional, employee, retention or partner offer.
- On a plan whose 25GB benefit had already expired.
“Bonus data” also does not, by itself, establish the exact contractual treatment. The benefit might have been described as part of the monthly allowance, a promotion or a time-limited offer. Your customer agreement, Critical Information Summary and account notices control the terms for your line.

What did the plans include besides data?
The reported tiers retained or offered other features, but the details were plan-specific and some benefits were promotional or time-limited. Depending on the tier, they included:
- 5G access and Canada-wide service.
- Canada-U.S. or Canada-U.S.-Mexico use.
- International texting or calling allowances.
- Rogers Red credit-card-related benefits.
- Selected Sportsnet+ promotions.
- Roaming discounts on the highest tier.
Do not value every feature as though it applies to every plan or every customer. Check the offer’s Critical Information Summary and the conditions attached to any credit, subscription or roaming benefit.
Do not confuse the 2025 change with Rogers’ 2026 $5 adjustment
There are two separate events:
- July 9, 2025: Rogers’ listed examples changed by $5, while their data allowances fell by 25GB.
- April 21, 2026: Rogers announced a newer 5G+ plan family, including a five-year price-guarantee tier. Its current public plan page no longer establishes that the 2025 100GB, 175GB and 250GB lineup remains available.
- July 15, 2026: Rogers identified a separate $5 monthly “Wireless Plan Rate Adjustment.” The CRTC said Rogers notified customers through billing statements and asked the company questions about the change.
The CRTC’s June 23, 2026 letter was a request for information and compliance clarification, not a final ruling that the increase was unlawful.

Displayed prices can depend on Auto-Pay, bundling and eligibility. The current lineup also advertises benefits such as U.S. or broader roaming coverage, Rogers Satellite promotions, StreamSaver and Uber One, depending on the tier. Check the live Rogers plans page before treating any current price or inclusion as universal.
How to check whether your bill changed
Compare an older bill or agreement with your latest bill and record:
- The exact plan name.
- The monthly wireless service fee.
- Any “Wireless Plan Rate Adjustment” line or explanatory notice.
- Automatic-payment and bundling discounts.
- Promotional credits and their expiry dates.
- Device-financing or Save & Return charges.
- Taxes, roaming and overage charges.
- The included high-speed data allowance.
- U.S., Mexico and international access.
A final bill increase may be larger or smaller than $5. Multiple affected lines can multiply the increase; lost credits, device changes, taxes, roaming and prorated charges can also alter the total. Rogers explains that a plan change can produce partial charges and credits because wireless service is billed in advance. Its wireless bill guide describes these sections.

Staying may make sense if you:
- Frequently use the U.S. or Mexico.
- Receive a device credit, bundle discount or other offer that materially lowers your total cost.
- Depend on Rogers coverage at home, work or while travelling.
- Use Rogers-specific benefits.
- Have a meaningful price guarantee.
- Use enough data that a lower allowance could lead to reduced speeds or overage concerns.
Rogers says Canada-U.S.-Mexico plans include talk, text and data in the covered countries without daily roaming fees. Occasional travellers may instead find Roam Like Home or a travel pass more economical.

Downgrading or switching may make sense if you:
- Use substantially less than 100GB each month.
- Do not need U.S. or Mexico service.
- Do not use the included subscriptions or premium features.
- Are paying the increase across several lines.
- Can leave without losing valuable device credits or paying a remaining device balance.
- Can obtain comparable coverage and service elsewhere for less.
Compare the total monthly cost, not just the headline rate. Include taxes, Auto-Pay requirements, activation charges, device financing, promotional credits, roaming and comparable coverage.
A practical response sequence
- Save your evidence: download an older bill, agreement, Critical Information Summary and promotional terms.
- Check MyRogers: confirm the plan name, data allowance, price and available alternatives.
- Ask Rogers for an explanation: determine whether the change reflects a plan migration, an expired promotion, a new-plan price or the separate 2026 adjustment.
- Request documents: ask for the Key Order Information Details or customer agreement for your line.
- Check retention options: ask whether a lower tier, credit or account-specific offer is available, and get its duration in writing.
- Review exit costs: confirm device financing, Save & Return obligations and any lost promotional credits.
- If switching: verify device status, number portability and roaming needs before cancelling.
- Escalate unresolved issues: use Rogers’ formal complaint process and, where appropriate, contact the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services.

What if your bill does not match the headline?
You see only a $5 increase
You may have retained the old data allowance, had a bonus expire earlier, been on an unaffected plan, or be seeing only the separate 2026 rate adjustment. Check the data allowance and plan name rather than assuming the 25GB reduction also applied.
You see more than a $5 increase
Check for multiple lines, expired Auto-Pay or bundle discounts, device-financing changes, promotional-credit expiry, taxes, prorated billing, roaming and overage charges.
You are in a fixed-term device agreement
Do not assume the device term automatically freezes the wireless service price. At the same time, do not assume a provider can change every contractual term without limits. In its 2026 letter, the CRTC specifically asked Rogers whether the adjustment applied during ongoing commitment periods and whether it formed part of the minimum monthly charge. The letter noted that the minimum monthly charge is a key contract term that cannot be changed during a commitment period without informed and express consent. The cited letter does not provide a final determination for every customer.
Bottom line
The July 2025 Rogers change reduced the advertised data allowance by 25GB and increased the listed price by $5 on several plans. It was not proof that every existing customer immediately lost 25GB. Your own agreement, promotion and account history determine what happened to your line.
The separate $5 wireless rate adjustment identified for July 15, 2026 is a different issue. Check your plan, bill, discounts, data allowance and device obligations before changing anything—and save the old plan details first, because Rogers says an unavailable grandfathered plan may not be recoverable.
