These Memorial Day gaming-laptop deals are no longer live. The original list was published on May 23, 2025, with prices running through May 26, 2025. Best Buy also showed a newer group of RTX 50-series deals during its 2026 Memorial Day promotion, but that sale has ended too. Use the prices below as historical value benchmarks—not as current offers—and verify every model, seller, price, and return policy on Best Buy’s current gaming-laptop listings.
The strongest historical picks were the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 for inexpensive raster-performance value, the MSI Stealth 16 AI for a higher-end 2025 configuration, and the ASUS ROG Strix G16 for a premium display and CPU. The best current buying lesson is more important than the old discount: compare GPU power, memory, storage, and panel quality—not just the advertised “was” price.
The nine original Memorial Day deals
The table below reproduces the nine recommendations and prices from the May 2025 deal article. “Save” means the difference from Best Buy’s displayed comparison price, not necessarily a verified manufacturer MSRP or independent price-history low.

How the 2025 deals stack up
Best below $800: ASUS TUF Gaming A16
At its historical $799 price, the TUF A16 offered 16GB of RAM and an RX 7700S—more complete than the $599 Victus configuration. It was the most persuasive choice for buyers focused on conventional rasterized gaming at 1080p or 1200p. The trade-off was software and feature coverage: Nvidia alternatives are usually the safer choice for ray tracing, DLSS, CUDA applications, and some creator workflows.
Buy if: you want the most gaming hardware possible under $800 and primarily play rasterized games. Skip if: ray tracing, DLSS, or Nvidia-specific creative applications are priorities.

- Gigabit LAN, 2x2 WiFi 7 (802.11be), Bluetooth 5.4

Best budget fallback: HP Victus 15
The Victus was a low entry price, not a fully comfortable long-term configuration. Eight gigabytes of RAM can constrain modern games and multitasking, so check whether the exact unit has an accessible upgrade slot and budget for a memory upgrade. The 512GB SSD is also entry-level once Windows, launchers, and several large games are installed.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Best portable RTX 4060: MSI Cyborg 14
The Cyborg paired an RTX 4060 with a 14-inch chassis at $819. That combination suited students and commuters who wanted substantially more GPU capability than an entry-level machine. Portability has a cost: smaller cooling systems can reduce sustained performance or increase fan noise compared with 15- and 16-inch designs. The 1200p panel is a sensible target for this class of GPU.

Best conventional 1080p RTX 4060 option: Acer Nitro 15
The Nitro’s 15.6-inch format and 16GB of RAM made it a straightforward mainstream gaming laptop. Do not rely on the original article’s “16GB VRAM” wording: verify the exact Best Buy SKU and manufacturer specification before purchase. An RTX 4060 Laptop GPU is normally discussed as an 8GB configuration, but the listing itself is the authority for the particular unit.
Best esports-oriented configuration: Dell G15
A 360Hz 1080p display can make sense for competitive games when the system can produce very high frame rates. It is not automatically better for cinematic AAA games, where GPU load and image quality matter more than extreme refresh rates. The 1TB SSD was a practical advantage, while reported heat and the large power brick reduced its appeal as a portable system. Those observations come from third-party coverage summarized by the original article, not from testing of every Dell G15 configuration.

Best compact creator/gaming compromise: MSI Stealth 14 AI Studio
The Stealth 14 offered a Core Ultra 7 processor, RTX 4060, and 1TB SSD in a smaller design. Its Intel AI Boost NPU may support compatible AI workloads, but it should not be treated as a meaningful gaming-performance upgrade without model-specific benchmarks. Choose it for portability; choose a larger laptop if sustained performance, lower noise, or a bigger display matters more.

Best higher-end 2025 pick: MSI Stealth 16 AI
The Stealth 16 was the original list’s top recommendation at $1,599, largely because it combined an RTX 4070 with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. That judgment applied to the 2025 list and should not be generalized to every RTX 4070 laptop or to later sales. Confirm the exact GPU power limit, since two laptops carrying the same RTX label can perform differently because of wattage, cooling, and manufacturer tuning.

Plus, dual 8Ω/1W speakers pump out immersive surround sound, turning your workspace into a mini theater for movie nights or music breaks after work.
Best large-screen option: Gigabyte Aorus 17
The Aorus made the most sense as a desktop replacement: a 17.3-inch 1440p panel, 240Hz refresh rate, RTX 4070, and 1TB SSD. The 1440p resolution is a better match for this GPU than an entry-level chip, but the size, weight, and charger make it a poor choice for daily commuting.
Best premium display-led choice: ASUS ROG Strix G16
The Strix combined a Core i9-14900HX, RTX 4070, 32GB of RAM, and a 1600p 240Hz display with Dolby Vision and G-Sync. That specification favored buyers who cared about both demanding games and a high-quality panel. Verify brightness and the precise model number: the original coverage distinguished this newer configuration from an earlier review with display criticisms.

These 2026 listings were reported by TechRadar and indexed Best Buy category pages. The source material does not provide verified GPU power limits, weights, brightness measurements, or exact upgrade layouts for every SKU, so those details must be checked on the individual product page.
How to judge a gaming-laptop deal
- Identify the exact SKU. Do not transfer RAM, VRAM, display, or CPU specifications from a manufacturer’s broader product family.
- Check GPU wattage. “RTX 4060,” “RTX 5070,” or another GPU name is incomplete without the laptop’s power limit, cooling design, and tuning.
- Match the panel to the GPU. A 1080p or 1200p display is easier to drive than 1440p or 1600p. A 240Hz panel is most useful for esports and high frame rates, not automatically for AAA games.
- Prefer 16GB RAM minimum. Treat 8GB as an upgrade project. Choose 32GB when the premium is reasonable, particularly for content creation, virtual machines, or heavy multitasking.
- Audit storage. A 512GB SSD is a starting point, not generous capacity. Confirm the number of M.2 slots and whether opening the chassis affects warranty terms.
- Check features that affect real use. Look for a MUX switch or Advanced Optimus, suitable display outputs, modern Wi-Fi, USB-C charging where supported, webcam quality, keyboard layout, battery capacity, and charger size.
- Separate discount from value. A large reduction from a high comparison price does not prove the laptop is cheaper than comparable systems or that its specifications are complete.
- Confirm the transaction. Check whether Best Buy sells and ships the laptop directly or whether it is a marketplace listing. Review warranty, return eligibility, shipping, pickup, membership requirements, and the final checkout price.
Simple budget decision tree
- Under $800: choose an RTX 4050 or comparable entry-level system only if the price is the priority, and budget for a RAM or SSD upgrade.
- About $1,000–$1,500: prioritize 32GB RAM and an RTX 5060 or RTX 5070-class configuration, while comparing screen quality and GPU wattage.
- About $1,500–$2,000: decide whether you want a faster GPU or an OLED display. Do not pay for OLED if the GPU cannot make good use of the panel’s native resolution.
- Above $2,000: require a clear justification such as a higher GPU tier, 32GB or 64GB RAM, 2TB storage, a premium OLED panel, or substantially better build and cooling.
Bottom line
The nine 2025 offers were genuine historical recommendations, but none should be treated as a live Memorial Day deal in September 2026. For a similar future promotion, the TUF A16-style configuration is the value benchmark, 32GB RTX 5060/5070 systems are the sensible middle ground, and OLED RTX 5070 Ti laptops are premium display purchases—not automatically the best gaming value. Always verify the exact SKU, GPU wattage, upgradeability, seller, return terms, and final price before paying.
