Short answer: the available public evidence does not confirm a widespread Currys UK outage for 18 August 2026. A captured Downdetector UK snapshot reported no current problems, but it was not a live check at the moment you read this. Test the exact Currys feature that is failing—such as search, login, basket, checkout, payment or tracking—before assuming the entire website is down.

Quickly check whether Currys is down
- Open the Currys UK homepage in a private or incognito window.
- Try a normal product page as well as search.
- Test the basket, checkout, login and order-tracking function you actually need.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or try another network.
- Try another browser or device.
- Check the Downdetector Currys PC World page. Its reports are an indicator, not an official Currys incident declaration.
Downdetector says it identifies incidents when reports rise significantly above the normal level for that time of day. That means a small, regional, account-specific, checkout-only or very recent fault may not appear.
Currys website status on 18 August 2026
The available Downdetector snapshot said there were “no current problems”, but the result was captured roughly two weeks before the research date. It should not be treated as proof that Currys is working normally at the exact time of reading. Currys also does not appear to provide a clearly surfaced public status page, so the most reliable immediate check is to test the affected service yourself.

A homepage that loads does not prove that checkout, payments or order tracking are working. Conversely, a failed product page does not necessarily mean the whole retailer’s website is offline.

How to fix Currys not working
- Record the problem. Note the time, URL, exact error message and whether the failure affects the homepage, product pages, basket, login, payment or tracking. Take a screenshot where appropriate.
- Reload once. If you are at checkout, check your email and banking app before pressing Pay again.
- Use a private window. This bypasses many stale cookies and stored sessions. If it works there, remove Currys’ site data from your ordinary browser and sign in again.
- Try another browser or device. If only one browser fails, temporarily test with ad blockers, script blockers, VPN extensions, coupon tools and anti-tracking extensions disabled. Re-enable security tools after the test.
- Change networks. Turn off Wi-Fi and try mobile data. If Currys works on mobile data, the problem may be your router, ISP, DNS, VPN, proxy or network filtering rather than Currys’ servers.
- Retry after a short interval. If the site fails across multiple networks and other users are reporting problems, repeated attempts are unlikely to help and may create duplicate payment authorisations.
Do not change DNS as the first troubleshooting step. It adds complexity and cannot repair a failure on Currys’ own systems.
If search or a product page is not working
A search failure can be limited to Currys’ search service while the rest of the site remains available. Try opening a product page directly, if you have its link, and test another category.

Before clearing cookies, record the product code, quantity and displayed price. Then try rebuilding the basket in a private window.
If your basket is empty
An empty basket may result from an expired session, damaged cookies, a guest-and-account session mismatch, changed stock or a synchronisation problem. Sign out and back in only after recording the basket contents. If the product is still available, rebuild the basket rather than repeatedly refreshing the old session.
If Currys login is not working
- Confirm that you are using the UK Currys site, not Currys Ireland or Currys Business.
- Use password recovery once rather than repeatedly submitting guesses.
- Try a private window and temporarily disconnect a VPN or privacy extension.
- If you bought as a guest, search your email and spam folder for the confirmation instead of relying on account login.
For signed-in orders, Currys says the route is My Account → Your Orders → Order History. If a guest-order confirmation cannot be found, Currys advises contacting support.

Currys says card failures can involve its payment provider, particularly during busy periods. Wait a few minutes and try again only after checking your banking app.

- Do not repeatedly press Pay while the page is spinning.
- Check whether the bank shows no transaction, a pending authorisation or a completed payment.
- Search your email, including spam and junk folders, for an order confirmation.
- Save any order number, payment reference, amount and timestamp.
A pending bank transaction does not automatically prove that an order succeeded. If money appears to have been taken but there is no order confirmation, do not immediately place a replacement order. Contact Currys and your bank or card provider so they can establish whether the transaction is an authorisation, a completed payment or an unmatched order.
Gift-card payments and mobile web
Currys states that gift cards can be used online, in-store and through the Currys app, but not on its mobile website. Therefore, a gift-card failure in a phone browser may be a stated mobile-web restriction rather than a general outage. Try the full desktop site or the app.
Currys also states that up to 10 gift cards can be used for one order. If a balance has been reduced without an order confirmation, stop retrying and keep the gift-card numbers and receipts for customer support.

If you only need delivery, installation or repair information, try Currys’ separate Track It service. It requests an order or repair reference together with a postcode or contact details and supports UK and Republic of Ireland selection.

This is a separate service, not proof that the main Currys retail platform is healthy. It may still be affected by a wider incident, but it is the appropriate route when the shopping site is unavailable and you already have a reference.

Currys’ Help & Support page lists 0330 678 1696 for placing an order and 0344 561 0000 for other customer-service issues. These numbers and opening hours can change, so check the official page before calling; they were listed there when checked for this article.
If you contact support, have your email address, order or repair reference, postcode, product code, screenshots, payment amount and transaction time ready. This is especially important when checkout has failed after a bank authorisation.

Wait and retry later when the failure occurs on multiple devices and networks, other users report similar problems, or the error is clearly at checkout rather than in your browser. Avoid repeated payment attempts while the status is uncertain.

Treat the issue as probably local when only one device, browser, Wi-Fi connection, VPN, extension or account is affected. Treat it as probably product-specific when the rest of the site works but one item cannot be added or purchased.

Can I track a Currys order if the website is down?
Yes. Try Currys’ separate Track It service with your order or repair reference and the requested postcode or contact details. It is separate from the shopping site, although it is not guaranteed to work during a wider outage.
Why did my Currys basket disappear?
The session may have expired, cookies may be damaged, stock may have changed, or the account and guest basket may not have synchronised. Record the product details, then try a private window and rebuild the basket.
What should I do if Currys charged me but sent no confirmation?
Do not place another order immediately. Check your email, spam folder, account order history and bank status. Record the amount and time, then contact Currys and your bank or card provider.
Can I use a Currys gift card on my phone?
