Interphase Corp. announced on July 24, 1996, that Michael R. Corboy had been elected to its board of directors, succeeding Michael E. Cope, who had resigned. The appointment is a historical report, not evidence of a current board position.
Appointment dates and circumstances
According to EDN’s contemporaneous report, Interphase, which the announcement identified as based in Dallas, said Corboy was elected at a board meeting on July 23, 1996. The company announcement was dated July 24; EDN published its item on July 25.
Corboy took the seat vacated by Michael E. Cope. The report says Cope resigned from the board but gives no reason for his departure.

Corboy was 65 and president and chief executive officer of Corboy Investment Co. EDN described him as an experienced electronics-industry executive. The brief announcement does not provide a fuller biography or define the nature of Corboy Investment Co.

These affiliations are those reported in 1996; they should not be read as claims about his later or present roles.

What the announcement establishes—and what it does not
The report establishes that Interphase’s board elected Corboy to fill a seat after Cope’s resignation. It does not explain why Corboy was selected, whether shareholders approved the appointment, or whether he had a particular governance, financial, or technology mandate. It also does not report committee assignments, compensation, ownership, tenure, or subsequent board service.
