Founded in 1973, Charles Schwab has been operating in the investment world for over 35 years. Among services to potential investors are investment guidance and portfolio planning. Since financial advisors are available to customers who prefer a more hands-on approach, the stock trading fee is a little higher at $12.95 per trade to accommodate advisors commission.

E-Trade

E-Trade has been in business for over 25 years. E-Trade offers potential investors access to a selection of diversified and integrated portfolios and charges a low stock transaction fee of $9.95 per trade.
